I think at times Ancient Aliens theory seems to stretch the evidence. Though we may have been visited, lets not take away from our ancestors the amazing skills they had. It is our modern culture that has lost skills and become lazy. So, when we look back at these amazing feats, we simply find it hard to believe that humans are capable of such amazing work. Evidence may exist, but to date, all evidence is circumstantial at best. I hope one day the truth will be revealed…
It is hard to say for sure. I think it is undeniable that our civilization wasn’t the only one that reached high level of technology– the evidence is all over. But it is unknown if the humans attained that level with or without outside help, or if we are looking at civilization that was built by aliens instead of humans. One thing does stand out– the high level of technology that we see in those ancient sites appeared quite suddenly, at the time humans were supposedly limited to stone age tools…no “evolution” of technology or anything…it is just there suddenly.
Also, if you read many legends and myths, they usually attribute their advancements in technology (writing, agriculture, etc.) to the “gods”. Even the Bible mentions that in early part of Genesis (sons of God that came down and had sex with human females) and later extrapolated in the non-canonical Book of Enoch. So it is very likely, from these stories, that the humans got their knowledge from extraterrestrials (or angels/gods if you prefer).

I’ve seen experiments that uses sound to levitate objects; however they only work on small scale and with very light objects. But it does make some sense to me. The Egyptians did provide a description of how they moved stones…basically it was putting a sheet of white paper under the stone and then the stone “floated”. So maybe vibrations are used? If you put rocks or heavy objects on a metal sheet and vibrate the sheet, the objects will “levitate” just enough for you to nudge it around. Just an idea.
nanoduck, Hi, I don’t think the tech is as advanced as it is portrayed. Where are the diodes, etc… What we find are amazing creative design, and unsurpassed trade skills. If we didn’t rely today on easy options we would probably still have the same skills, which we have simply lost. Remember these amazing structures took x10′s of years to complete. I do think we have been visited in the past,genetically in the past we may have been altered kick starting modern man. However, humans can achieve amazing things, I do not think we should so easily dismiss our ancient achievements. All evidence is ambiguous, and can equally be used to dis-prove as well as prove alien visitations. I do think more is going on, I believe we are being watched, why? only time will tell. NASA cannot be trusted, they are an arm of the U.S. military defence, therefore will only reveal what is in their own interest. However, people twist the truth, either deliberately or through a need to believe, so extraordinary claims needs extraordinary evidence. Many of those structures are very old, dating way back to the Ice Ages or before. We are talking tens of thousands of years ago. In that span of time, not much can survive, and what does probably get recycled. Also, around that time there was a tremendous geological upheaval– many cities sank under water, and a few ended up on mountaintops, and many were buried under hundreds of feet of sediment. So it is understandable that pretty much only the massive rock cities survived all this. If something massive and destructive destroyed our civilization and left only a handful of survivors, it is not too hard to imagine how much of a setback it would be for those people– they would be back to Stone Age for a very long time and it takes a high population to produce the technology we currently have.

One only has to look at the Roman Empire and the amazing discovery of ancient concrete. What was it in the 18th century or 19th century that it was rediscovered but different than what the Romans used. They used volcanic ash instead with great results. Hydraulic cement was a Roman invention lost when the Empire fell. It is possible for our ancestors to do amazing feets but the world population at that time was low and I feel they had some help.
The cutting of squared cavities is virtually impossible with out specialized powered tools.
This particular stone is harder than granite.
Only tunkston and diamond tools in modern technology have this capability to cut such.
Both of which still wear down with excessive use.
It is clear to me that ordinary silt saws, (rope with wet silt that was ground through the object) and chisels, unpowered drills etc, could Not be responsible for this. Only powered tools will do.

Back in the 1950′s my father showed me how to drill a square edged hole in a piece of paper, using a manual brace and bit drill, but the stipulated parameters for the drilling need to be loose enough. The trick is to take two wood blocks , fold the paper, and clamp it between the blocks, then drill down the fold.
I’ve read that the hardness of granites can be modified by the application of a particular bird guano. Hannibal used heated vinegar to get through stone barriers. The coring capacity of Egyptian drills was such that the depth of bite was of a similar order of magnitude to the circumference of the drill,, but perhaps there were additional factors assisting in the actual drilling, carving , or smoothing , of which we no longer have the details.
Why is it that these discoveries haven’t gotten more attention? Could it be that (as it is with modern-day UFO reports) people are too afraid to entertain questions which might shake their own social and religious foundations? Wars are being fought over “god” even in our modern, sophisticated world just as they have been since the beginning of recorded history but we still don’t question the authority of world leaders when they send our children to die? As a side not, we cannot rely on history to be 100% accurate.
For example, there could simply be a translation error in deciphering data, written or glyph, or even passed down in story word of mouth through generations.
The possibility Can exist that a translation of “created in one night” Could be awry. One night could be a mistaken translation which could mean one Moon. One season.
For example, one night to eskimos/inuit, is near 6 months. but if we knew little of thier culture and had to go by nothing more than pictures on seal skins for historical recordings, than we would be mistaking the term one night to be a single night according to Our standards, and not Thiers.
See how easy it can be to misinterpret some translations?

Now if humans had such technologies when this was created, wheres the evidence? You wont find it anywhere on the earth. Why is that? Now if their was some great catastrophe that destroyed it, their would be evidence of that catastrophe. All im saying is advanced civilizations usually leave something behind. But here, nothing.
I have just read the above comments and watched the program. If I am not mistaken, Lake Titicaca is approximately 12 miles from Puma Punku, and is almost perfectly circular. How about another theory – that the lake was created at the same time Puma Punku was destroyed – by a very large meteor? This would explain the destruction unless it was a direct hit by a meteor, then there would be nothing left standing. As it is, there is a lot of debris which would not be left by a direct hit with a nuclear explosion which would vaporize everything within several miles. However, a direct hit with conventional artillery would explain the shattered debris.
the Titicaca lake crater is actually Quite old.

I cannot say how long it has been filled with water per say, but the crater it self is far far older than puma punku.
Also, it is a UFO hot spot.
UFO’s have been seen emerging and diving in and out of that lake for quite some time.
There are several deep mountain lakes in the region which have similar ufo activity.
Something I have not heard anyone mention is that these structures could easily be explained if one theory is put forth. Throughout our history cultures have risen to great levels of achievement such as the Greeks and Egyptians and eventually they have fallen to substandards of life comparitive to their heights of achievement. Archeoligsts posit theories about our history but very little of it is definitive; proven frequently when new information is uncovered. Has no one considered that “man” has risen to great heights of cultural achievements much further back in our history? If there were a global or societal event that destroyed these cultures that knowledge would be lost. Considering the basic nature of man, it is very likely that man, not aliens, created these wonderful structures in our distant past and then destroyed them in some catostrophic way, all knowledge of how and why they were built lost in antiquity.

If you believe that humans built Puma Punku, then what tools did they use? How are they able to cut and carve those heavy granite rocks? How did they move those huge blocks from the rock quarry to the construction site? Can you explain it? Can the mainstream archaeology explain it? They can only theorize, but it’s not really believable whatever they. And, 14 thousand years ago, people on earth only uses stone as their tools…..

I really want to believe that man was solely responsible for such an extraordinary feat so so long ago, and the majority of the population was wiped out. thus leaving behind this incredible site. That would show what potential we have. Its obvious that each intricate stone served an individual purpose. Or why go through so much trouble? But if such a thing was true and we’re much older a species then previously thought, I dont think we would still be here. We are WAY too fragile of a species. We die so easily.
